Printed on border: "These nine gorgeous standards were captured in the fort at Erzerum by a brigade of dismounted Don Cossacks. The standards were conveyed to the Emperor's palace at Tsarskoye Selo by Captain Konieff, the first officer to enter Erzerum, and nine men representing various arms of the Caucasus armies and presented to the Tsar. They were afterwards taken through Petrograd and deposited in the cathedral of St. Peter and Paul." |
