Notes: Written on border; "Triptolemus seated on his winged chariot holds his sceptre and wheat. Ceres, goddess of harvest, wears a talaric tunic with a peplos, her hair covered with a veil. She holds a long sceptre and caresses a crane. Metanira holds a flowering sceptre, her hair enveloped in a cecryphale. Celeus, king of Eleusis holds a sceptre. Beside him is a dog, symbol of the domestic hearth. Metanira and Celeus are parents of Triptolemus. From AuserleseneVasenbilder by Gerhard." Printed on border: "T. III" "Pl. LVII. A."
