The Revue grew out of vaudeville. An upscale version of a "numbers" show produced on Broadway with well known entertainers and a variety of comedy, dance, and musical acts, famous revues such as the Ziegfield Foll
ies or the Passing Show were annual features of the New York theatrical scene.
